Privacy Policy

Last updated: 21 October 2026

Gold Coast Health & Chiropractic Group (“we”, “us”, “our”) respects your privacy. As a health service provider we are bound by the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles. This policy explains what personal information we collect, including health information, how we use, store and share it, and how you can access it or make a complaint.

The information we collect

  • Your contact details, such as your name, address, phone number, email address and date of birth.
  • Health information, such as your medical history, symptoms, examination findings, imaging and reports, treatment notes and information from other health practitioners involved in your care.
  • Health fund, Medicare, DVA, WorkCover or insurance details when you claim through them.
  • Details of an emergency contact, or of a parent or guardian for patients under 18.
  • Anything you choose to tell us when you contact us or book online.

How we collect it

We collect most information directly from you: on new patient forms, during consultations, and when you phone, email, book online or use the forms on this website. With your consent, or where the law allows, we may also collect information from others, such as your GP or specialist, imaging providers, health funds, insurers, WorkCover or a parent or guardian.

You can make a general enquiry without identifying yourself, but we need to know who you are to provide treatment.

Why we collect it

  • To assess, diagnose and treat you, and to manage your ongoing care.
  • To manage appointments and contact you about your care, including appointment reminders.
  • To process payments and claims with health funds, Medicare, DVA, WorkCover and insurers.
  • To communicate with other health practitioners involved in your care, with your consent.
  • To respond to your enquiries.
  • To meet our legal and professional obligations.

We will not use your information for marketing without your consent, and you can opt out at any time.

Who we share it with

  • Other health practitioners involved in your care, with your consent.
  • Health funds, Medicare, DVA, WorkCover Queensland and insurers, when processing a claim you have asked us to make.
  • Service providers who help us run the practice, such as our practice management and online booking system (Nookal), our health fund claiming and payment terminal provider (HICAPS), IT and website hosting providers and payment processors. They only receive what they need to provide their service.
  • Anyone we are required or authorised by law to share it with, for example under a court order or to lessen a serious threat to someone’s life, health or safety.

We do not sell your personal information.

Information sent overseas

Some of our service providers may store or process information outside Australia. In particular, the spam protection on our website forms (Google reCAPTCHA) sends technical information about your visit to Google, which may process it in the United States and other countries. Where a provider handles personal information overseas, we take reasonable steps to make sure it is protected in line with the Australian Privacy Principles.

Our website

  • Enquiry forms: when you send us a message we collect your name, phone number, email address and message. It is emailed to our practice and only used to respond to you.
  • Online bookings: bookings are handled by Nookal on our behalf. What you enter there is also covered by Nookal’s privacy policy.
  • Spam protection: our forms use Google reCAPTCHA, which collects information about your device and how you use the page to tell people from bots. Google’s Privacy Policy and Terms of Service apply.
  • Fonts: some fonts are loaded from Google Fonts, so your browser connects to Google and shares your IP address.
  • Security: our hosting and security providers may set strictly necessary cookies and log technical details such as your IP address and browser type to keep the website secure.
  • We do not currently use analytics or advertising tracking on this website.
  • Our website links to other sites, including our social media pages. We are not responsible for their privacy practices.

How we store and protect it

We keep records in a secure practice management system, with access limited to staff who need it, and keep any paper records secure. All staff are bound by confidentiality. We keep health records for as long as the law and our professional obligations require, then securely destroy or de-identify them.

Accessing and correcting your information

You can ask for access to the personal information we hold about you, or ask us to correct it if you believe it is inaccurate, out of date or incomplete. Please contact our Privacy Officer (details below). We will respond within 30 days. There is no charge to make a request, but we may charge a reasonable fee to cover the cost of providing copies. In limited circumstances the law allows us to refuse access; if so, we will tell you why in writing.

Complaints

If you have a concern about how we have handled your personal information, please contact our Privacy Officer. We will acknowledge your complaint and aim to respond within 30 days. If you are not satisfied with our response, you can contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner at www.oaic.gov.au or on 1300 363 992.
